I Caught the Trash on Fire

Old
Our dads have always been older than us, so we've always seen them as old. And maybe fat. And bald. Definitely preachy. Could it be that they have so much advice to give because they've made so many mistakes?
Young
Our dads used to be young. Above you saw a young dad snuffing out a flame. He's running so the garage doesn't roast. How did this happen?
Well
Saturday night we had a bonfire. We called it quits at 10p because the blaze went out. 15 hours later, at 1p on Sunday, I dumped the ash in the trash. An hour passed and we were watching some post-house-cleaning TV. Then Amanda said, "Do you hear that crackling?" I go, "Yea, it's probably nothing." 10 minutes later Amanda says, "I still hear crackling." She goes over to look - "Peter the garage is on fire!"
Conclusion
So your dad always has something to say. Now I know why. It's because he's messed up a lot back in the day. He's trying to save us from having to pay Lakewood $50.20 for a new can. Dads don't preach because they're trying to stop us from having fun. They preach because they're trying to stop us from getting hurt.
Practical Suggestions
Feel free to use the sayings that I will now tell my kids one day
Douse that ash until it's cashed before you dump it in the trash
And, where do you keep your fire extinguisher?
When someone hears crackling, go the first time
A fire can both ruin and refine
